The hotel is situated in a first 900’s small palace; it looks over the sea volcanic lake that was transformed into a harbour by Ferdinand 2nd Bourbon. The king inaugurated it in 1854.
The “Locanda sul Mare“ has always been the lodging for people of culture and art from all over the world.
We can quote the German painter Hans Purrmann, one among the founders of Matisse’s painting school. Purrmann loved painting views of the Bourbon harbour from the windows of the hotel.
Purrmann brought to the knowledge of the local artist Luigi De Angelis, one of the most important “naif” painters in Europe.
The Bourbon conch is called “the monument full of monuments” too, thanks to the treasure of legend, history and evidences, whom the lacustrine site contains.

We are centrally located just a few steps from the ferry and hydrofoil landings from Naples and Pozzuoli. We are 200 meters from the famous ‘rive droite’ of the harbor where there is a wide range of restaurants and activities for evening strolls. In the immediate vicinity, we have pubs, pizzerias, bars, tobacco shops, newsstands, agencies, a church, a bus station from where you can start all excursions, visits to beaches and thermal parks, taxi stands, car rental, motorboat rental, municipal marina, and private marina for boats. Just a few hundred meters from Via Roma and Corso Vittoria Colonna for shopping and walks.
